Founder, BAComm, ERYT200, RPYT
I have been teaching yoga and mindfulness to Calgary kids, adults and teachers for eight years. In that time, I have taught in a variety of locations, schools, boardrooms, community centers and studios. In 2017, Vivian Safaris and I opened Heart + Mind to serve the local community and provide non-heated, safe yoga to students interested in deepening their yoga and mindfulness practice.
At the same time, I have been steadily completing my Master of Counselling degree through City University of Seattle, Calgary campus with graduation in June of 2019. As a result, I am able to offer trauma-aware classes and programs designed to benefit people that have experienced trauma or suffer from symptoms of anxiety or depression or other mental health challenges. I am also interested in social justice and teaching underserved populations including teens and LGBTQ+. My classes are a safe space for any student.
I have trained with many compassionate teachers and organizations including Mindful Self-Compassion, Mindful Schools, Yoga in my School, Rainbow Kids Yoga, Yoga Ed., Yoga Thrive (for cancer survivors), Mamata Yoga (prenatal), Yoga Mandala and United Yoga of Montreal.
Outside of my professional life, I am the mother of three unique children and one little dog who all practice with me. They are my inspiration and yoga test subjects. I am born and raised Albertan, the daughter of two school teachers. I meditate, I volunteer both with the Calgary Distress Center and as a foster mom with Fur-ever Homes Rescue. I ride my bike and hike in the summer and I ski in the winter and of course, I practice yoga. Hope to practice with you soon.
