Heart + Mind Yoga is dedicated to embracing, empowering and educating community members through the practice of yoga and mindfulness.
We began our journey as Yoga Playground Ltd., a mobile mindfulness and yoga studio for students and teachers in 2010 and have had the privilege of educating 1000s of children, youth, educators and families through pre-school and school residencies, professional development workshops and private classes for families and organizations.
Our programs are grounded in a mindfulness of the heart practice bringing together the awareness of the present moment with an awareness of the peacefulness of the heart developing focus, empathy and happiness.
Heart + Mind Yoga opens their doors and their hearts to community members in September 2017. Our new space has two studios allowing us to continue our practice with kids, youth and families while also expanding to offer more adult classes in a new, beautiful studio space.
Many of our teachers and studio helpers recently took LGBTQ+ sensitivity training. We are in the process of making Heart +Mind Yoga a safe space for those in the LGBTQ+ community. We welcome you to join us.
What are yoga and mindfulness?
Yoga is an ancient practice combining mindful movements with breath awareness. Mindfulness is a part of yoga and is defined as paying attention to what is happening in the present moment without judgement (deciding if we like it, don't like it or are ambivalent.)
